Our Information and Advice Service has now been awarded the AQS, read more about this here

We are pleased to be able to offer information, advice and guidance to clients (age 55 and over) as well as their families and carers.

If you have any problems, or anything is worrying you, then please contact us to see if we can help.  We are able to offer information and guidance in many areas, including:

We are an alternative office for the DWP so can issue and help you to complete your claim for Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit or Carers Allowance.

Are you, or a family member or friend are struggling with every day tasks, like getting washed and dressed, getting to the bathroom, getting up and downstairs, getting in or out of bed?  You may be struggling with breathlessness, unsteadiness, dizzy spells or a whole range of other illnesses.  It is certainly worth giving our Information and Advice Manager, Jane Archer, a ring to discuss this - she can be contacted on 02380841199.

We can help you claim Attendance Allowance (if you are over 65). If you are struggling financially we can let you know whether you would be entitled to Pension Credit, and if you are, help you to complete the form. We can also let you know whether you would be entitled to Carers Allowance, and help you apply. You would of course need to make an appointment for this as some forms can take between 1 1/2 and 2 hours to complete.

Blue Badge
We can help you with applying for a Blue Badge.  This could be renewing an existing badge, or applying for a totally new one.  This will include advising you on the information we need from you to complete the form, and under what circumstances you will qualify automatically.  An appointment would need to be made for this, and we would generally allow 30-45 mins.

We can talk through various options for care, both in your own home or in a residential setting.  We will also be able to go through funding options available and ensure that all benefits are being paid to those that will be self funding, or those paying for their own care at home.

Lasting Power of Attorney
We can talk through both types of LPA's with you, and if you want to proceed with either or both then we will prepare these for you.  For more information please see Power of Attorney

- Other

We have information on things like how to avoid scams, equity release, managing your money, saving energy etc

We can provide you with information on caring for your eyes, going into hospital, healthy living, managing incontinence, avoiding falls, care at home, adapting your home, choosing care homes and many other topics.   We also have information on some of the local groups that we can put you in touch with.

We are not legally qualified here, but we do have information on topics such as; , looking after someone else's affairs, wills and estate planning, your consumer rights and more.  So if you need any information on these topics please pop in and pick up one of our brochures.

We keep a list of referenced tradespeople in various disciplines including;
handymen, plumbers, electricians, painters and decorators, gardeners, builders and lots more besides

The above is just a small taste of what we can help you with, and if we can't help you with something specific we will probably know someone that can!

Age Concern New Forest - Interview Room

We have an interview room available if you need any help or advice on matters that you do  not want to discuss in the general office.

We are also able to do a benefits check for you to ensure that you are getting the benefits     you are entitled to.

We generally make appointments for these types of meetings, so if you would like to chat      to us privately, and in confidence this can easily be arranged.

Either pop in to the office and make an appointment or ring us on (023) 80841199 and we      will book you in to see someone that can assist you.

Why not pop in and see if we can help you?

Office opening hours are Monday to Friday 10.00 am - 1.00 pm.  Messages can be left on our answerphone outside of these hours.

Information and Advice Appointments can be made during office hours. If due to your circumstances you are not able to get to the office during these hours, we can sometimes arrange appointments later in the afternoon.
